A few days ago, I jumped on Medium’s offer to get 50% off the annual membership. I stopped paying the subscription earlier this year when I was looking for ways to save money.

But a year of reading for $25? No brainer. And, I know what this means for my routines and habits.

Reading with my morning coffee after breakfast. Reading while I wait for the bus, or on the bus. Reading whenever I want, however long I want, and enjoying the feel of this cleanly-designed enticing app I came to love so much since signing up in 2017.

To me, having a Medium subscription means comfort. These days, I indulge in comfort. But that’s only possible because I learned to also weave the hard things into the fabric of my life.

There’s very little chance I’ll stop doing these hard things. I realized that picking up my challenges and sticking to them is what keeps me sane.

Why Choosing Challenges Keeps You Sane

I know that life throws challenges at you. I’m not here to tell you that you should take on more hard things. Because if your life is hard enough, you know it, and you don’t need this article.
