5 Reminders to Help You Reclaim Your Writing Voice
How to break free from your own head
Hello, it’s me, Marta, connecting with you from my abyss. I’m now at the stage of publishing obscure pieces about writing, because this is the easiest topic for me as I ease back into publishing on Medium again.
There are drafts brewing in my editor about gender-neutral pronouns, the psychology of 30-day challenges, and about saving the world (obviously). As I’m mustering the courage to finish (and publish) them, reflections on the process inevitably want to be shared.
These are the insights from reclaiming my writing voice after one-and-a-half year of not using it. Useful reminders, especially if your voice feels a bit rusty, too.
Not everything you will write will be good — and this has to be okay.
Let’s start with the obvious that somehow still manages to be forgotten — shall we?
If you want to progress, you need to try new things. If they are new things, this means you haven’t done them before. And if you haven’t done them before, then… it’s unlikely you’ll do them well.
