I believe this must be based on certain assumptions about human nature: what we are and are not capable of when comes to social behaviours. I think that if we started seeing the wellbeing of the whole as a prerequisite to our individual well-being (which is how I believe society really works), we could go far beyond this “climax” defined by Fukuyama.

Having said this I must admit that I never read his work. 😅 What do you think about that, Maarten?
