Myself, I have been recognising only recently (as my self-awareness grew more rapidly) how deeply some of the images of “how a woman should be” have been ingrained in me. All the things I heard and observed from my Mother. All the things that I have seen on television, disguised as innocent adds. All the girly magazines I used to read when I was 13. I realise that all of those left a trace on my image of womanhood — and now it is the time for me to find out what it means to be a woman and BE MYSELF at the same time.
